Bhimtal is an ancient town that gets its name from Bhima of Mahabharata. It is believed that Bhima visited here and there are many ancient temples that exist here. In fact Bhimtal is older than the city of Nainital. The famous Bhimeshwara Mahadev Temple located here is believed to be built in 17th century. Hindi is the local language spoken here.
